Use G-Mail for Transporting Files

Before you can begin creating pages, documents, or an iGoogle page you'll first need to create an account in Google.  The best way to start is with gmail.  Click on the link above to gmail and open a new account.

Once you have created an account you'll receive an instructional email from Google explaining all of the features of GMail.  The user interface for Gmail is very self-explanatory.  To star a new email click on "Compose Mail" and a the window will appear where you can create your message, attach files, and add an event invite.  Each time you create or receive an email the receiver or sender can then be added to your contacts list for faster access in the future.

At the time that this tutorial was created GMail provided each user a free 6GB of space for their email.  A 6GB flash drive at this time costs about $20.  This means that with GMail you not only get a free searchable web mail provider with built in spam features, but also $20 worth of memory that you can take anywhere you have internet access.

Mike H's Google Tip #2
Use GMail as a portable drive!
Ever have an important document at home or on a work computer and need to transport it in a hurry?
Just email it to yourself with GMail.  Remember, you've got 6 GB of free space to use.
