Discovery Education is a great resource with over 10,000 videos available online, but did you know that you can also use it to create interactive online activities? The Teacher Center at DE Streaming allows teachers to use pre-made items, or create their own Writing Prompts, Quizzes, and Assignments.
Today you will first participate in an online quiz, then learn how to use the QuizBuilder and other tools available to you through the Discovery Education Network. To get started, go to the Discovery Student Center at http://students.discoveryeducation.com/genericStudentIndex.cfm and enter the following code:
Q487B-4DA6
Follow the directions in the Quiz window to first watch the video, then anwer the questions. It is possible to watch the video and the quiz at the same time in two different windows.
When you're done the quiz, please click on the link on the left to the Discovery Education site and log in. Notice you are logged in now as a student, so log out and then log in again with your own username and password. Once all the quizzes are submitted we will begin a whole group activity with DE Streaming.
In the future, if you need assistance with Discovery Education you'll find resources in the "Professional Development" section next to "My Content" and "Teacher Center". For additional support please contact your Media Specialist or Technology Resource Teacher.

Scholastic Keys at Sabillasville

Scholastic Keys is a fantastic piece of software that makes using the computer lab much more fun and easier for younger students. Designed specifically for Elementary Schools, this suite of programs allows students to create documents, spreadsheets, and powerpoint presentations without having to master the difficult and cumbersome commands of Microsoft Office.

Lessons and activies are currently built in to each of the Scholastic Keys programs, but more are available online.
Scholastic Keys is available at each elementary school in Frederick County on certain machines. To find out which machines in your building have Scholastic Keys installed on them, please contact your school's technology coordinator.
